Every year, as the holiday season approaches, Central Philippine University (CPU) in Iloilo City, Philippines comes alive with the vibrant glow of its annual "Opening of Lights" or also known as the Festival of Lights and Music. This much-anticipated event has been a cherished tradition for years, captivating the hearts and imaginations of Iloilo residents and visitors alike. This event is organized by the University and the CPU Alumni Association, Inc.

Over the years, the event has evolved into a grand spectacle, featuring a dazzling array of lights, colorful decorations, and captivating performances.

The Opening Ceremony: A Night of Magic and Wonder

The festival's highlight is the opening ceremony, which typically takes place on the first Friday of December. Crowds flock to CPU's grandstand to witness the official switch-on of the lights, a mesmerizing moment that transforms the university campus into a wonderland of illuminated brilliance.

The Festival of Music and Lights this 2023 is the first opening of lights event under the administration of the University's new President Rev. Howard Dagohoy.
