Himbon ArtHub: the newest art gallery in Iloilo City

The art scene in Iloilo City is currently growing and thriving. Art galleries, museums, and exhibits are sprouting in corners of the city. (Read more: Iloilo slowly becoming center for culture, arts). One of the newest art spaces I've visited is Himbon Art Hub.

The gallery is located on the ground floor of Times Square, Gaisano Capital, Diversion Road in Iloilo City.

According to their Facebook page, this project has been 2 years in the making and was envisioned to be a "space to welcome artists and art patrons alike, a space where we can showcase artworks and gather for art sessions and workshops, a place to celebrate the Ilonggo artist."

Himbon is a group of contemporary artists here in Iloilo. The word 'Himbon' is Hiligaynon for a group or gathering.

They also sell hand-painted t-shirts and art souvenirs in their shop.

They are open daily from 1 PM to 9 PM. They also have a Facebook page for more information: facebook.com/himbon.iloilo

Here are some artworks I found interesting during my visit. I only took these pictures with my phone so I'm sorry that the bad quality of my pictures doesn't do the art enough justice:

From top: "Scintillating" and "Conflagration" (2020) by Victoria Layson, Acrylic on Canvas, 22x20"

"Nixes Tide" (2018) by Cris Barredo, Oil on Canvas, 18x40"

"Dahon" (2014) by Eros Endencio, Oil on Canvas, 18x18"

"The Mystical Scouts at Dawn" by El Dosado, Acrylic on Canvas, 16x24"

"Kris-2" (2019) by Norman Vincent Acedera, Mixed Media, 36x36"
